I will overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face Jake Paul in an eight round contest which will be streamed in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Joshua declared he will "dominate completely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to promote the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Ex two-time unified boxing king Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, on paper, a mammoth disparity - at Miami's venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Attitude

"I will damage his features and damage his physique. My goal is to show my superiority," Joshua, 35, declared.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I will really want to injure him. That's my goal."

Respectful Interaction

Despite these statements, a composed Joshua and social media star Paul - usually famous for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.

Paul rather criticized former Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "not serious" after the Cameroonian declined a fight offer.

Taking Aim at Fury

Joshua, at the same time, took aim at UK opponent Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is better than Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua stated.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Opponent

Despite stating he plans to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua declined to speak negatively about his rival's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he said.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed MMA fighters or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in last year.

Commercial Success

Still, the inexperienced fighter remains one of the sport's largest money-making draws, regularly earning substantial paydays.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28-year-old anticipated a knockout win in rounds four or five and asserted he would prevent the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly in the works for two years from now.

"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul stated.

Size Disparity

As Joshua and Paul met for the usual face-off, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it drove home just how unlikely this complete situation is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is really going ahead.
